With almost forty years of living in Bishop Sutton behind us, we have shown our commitment to the Chew Valley and we look forward to playing our part in ensuring a long term sustainable and prosperous future for the whole area.
As the son of a welder, brought up in Bedminster, I never imagined I would now be overseeing a rural business park with a wide range of tenants who provide goods, services and jobs which help fuel the local economy.
When my wife Ann and I bought our farm in 1987 I was immersed in the business of packing and selling cheese and we were rearing some sheep, the Dutch breed Zwartbles with their distinctive dark coats.
We had created an office to work from, but not long afterwards we needed to move to larger premises and someone asked if they could take on the vacant space. That was the moment the penny dropped and we realised there was a demand for work space in rural areas, so went about converting some of the farm buildings to offices, always using local suppliers so the spending stayed close to home.
Things have grown organically since then and now we have 14 businesses on site, employing more than 100 people, most of whom live close by. We can accommodate everything from a substantial established business to someone who wants to graduate from working in their back bedroom. If you are considering changing your premises please give us a call.
We already have a wide range of firms, including an optician, people involved in construction of various kinds, ecology, insurance, commercial cleaners and there’s even a place where children can play and their parents enjoy some tea and cake !
Our tenants and their clients appreciate the ease of getting here and parking when they do so. That space is not just good for our tenants and their customers, it means we can play a part in helping community events, such as providing parking for participants in the Chew Valley 10k and space for the Cricket Club to run their Christmas Tree Sales operation.
Running a successful local business which can contribute to the community is very important to our family. We are passionate about making the Chew Valley an even better place to live, work and enjoy life and we’ll be doing our level best to make that happen in the years to come.
